In dem Projekt „Data Driven Materials Design“ lag der Schwerpunkt einerseits auf dem Abgleich von Daten aus Modellierung und Experiment sowie im Auffinden von Korrelationen von Eigenschaften des Materials und seiner Zusammensetzung wie auch die Relation zwischen Materialeigenschaften und Prozessparametern.

High-throughput synthesis and high-throughput simulations hold great potential for a faster and more cost efficient discovery and development of new materials. While it is generally acknowledged that dedicated data science is essential for an adequate analysis of the massive amount of data that is generated in high-throughput processes, in practice, methods from data science and statistical learning only very recently entered the field of materials science. This was the main thrust of the project ‘Data Driven Materials Design’, where the expertise from groups in materials science and data science was combined for a faster and more efficient analysis of large experimental and simulated data sets.
