Important events, such as relocation, job losses, or strikes, can have large effects on individuals or households. This dissertation seeks to analyze the effects of three distinct events: job loss, moves and strikes. The first chapter examines the long-term impact of job loss on retirement. The second chapter studies the impact of gender norms in couples’ joint location decisions, and the last chapter studies the effects of a physician strike.
