Reactions of Me₂Zn with carbodiimides C(NR)₂ in different molar ratios at elevated temperature were investigated, a possible reaction mechanism was identified, and the single-crystal X-ray structures of polynuclear amidinate zinc complexes {C[C(NCy)₂ZnMe]₄}, 1, {C[C(NCy)₂ZnMe]₃(ZnMe)}, 3, and {C[C(NCy)₂ZnMe]₃(ZnMe)(MeZnOMe)}, 5, are reported.
