This thesis about magnetization dynamics in nano- and micro sized structures is divided into two parts. In the first part the Spin-Transfer-Torque (SST) effect in (Co/Ni)-multilayers was investigated, because of their possible application in nonvolatile data storage media like the magneto resistive random access memory (MRAM). The studied pillarstructures (50 nm x 300 nm x 18 nm) consist of a ferromagnetic (Co/Ni)-(Co/Pt)-multilayer with a fixed magnetization (polarizer) and a (Co/Ni)-multilayer with a free magnetization (analyzer), separated by a non-magnetic spacer layer of Cu. The SST-effect manifests in magnetic switching of the free magnetization and in a steady state precession of the free magnetization. Both states can be selected on purpose. One advantage of (Co/Ni)-multilayer is the perpendicular anisotropy, which reduces the critical current density for magnetic switching and increases the life time of such components. In addition the change of the giant magnetoresitance (GMR) and the SST-efficiency is higher as in (Co/Pt)-multilayer. A further interesting application is a nanoscaled source of microwaves. The microwave excitation due a shorted coaxial cable allows to investigate the eigenfrequency during the steady state precession. This is not possible by means of the change in GMR effect because of the perpendicular anisotropy. In the second part the magnetization dynamics of single ferromagnetic nanowires were investigated utilizing DC electrically detected ferromagnetic resonance. The anisotropic magnetoresistance is exploited to study a Permalloy wire (1 μm/600 nm/300 nm x 20 nm x 78 μm). The maximal effect is expected in easy and hard direction. Besides the quasi uniform mode of the precession especially the non-uniform modes e.g. spin waves are of interest. A detailed understanding of such modes is crucial for every application exploiting the reversal of magnetization. Due to a systematic investigation of the nanowire and its relative orientation relative to the external magnetic field it is possible for the first time to compare the behavior of the modes with external magnetic field perpendicular to the long wire-axis with the one in parallel configuration. This behavior of the modes is a lot more complicated.
