The packaging and printing industry faces increasing pressure for efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability. Postpressprocessing remains a critical bottleneck, as manual handling of stacked paper cutouts limits efficiency and scalability. This article addresses this challenge and introduces a layer-based modeling approach for stacks of non-rigid paper cutout to enable automated processing and evaluation of complex structures. This ensures process stability and adaptability to different product shapes. The solution aims to reduce manual intervention, improve throughput, and support flexible, sustainable production processes. Initial results indicate that automation in this area can significantly increase efficiency and lay the foundation for intelligent process control in industrial environments.
