Deliverable report D1.4.2, “Proof of Demonstrator Showcase” reviews the practical deployment and validation of an electric-vessel platform within the Caen Canal’s fish supply chain in Normandy, France. It highlights key breakthroughs in sustainable transport and a multimodal logistics framework developed under the WISTAR project (Waterways for Green Inland Sustainable Transport and Rural Businesses), funded by the Interreg North-West Europe Programme.

This demonstrator links local producers to urban markets by optimizing inland-waterway routes. It achieves measurable reductions in carbon emissions, road congestion, and energy consumption while cutting transit times—delivering a more cost-efficient logistics solution for the Normandy region. By detailing coordinated partner efforts and complex operational steps, the report defines the key achievements and presents a scalable, transferable model for green freight transport across Europe, with particular relevance to Wallonia (Belgium) and Germany’s Ruhr area.
