Paired-Items Test for Organic Chemistry
The relationship between representational competence and content knowledge in organic chemistry has been widely discussed, and the ways in which representations contribute to task difficulty, particularly in assessment, require the collection of empirical data. To address this, the present multiple-choice test was developed to assess individuals‘ knowledge of fundamental concepts - such as nomenclature and basic reaction mechanisms - in organic chemistry using pairs of tasks with and without representations.
