4209  In diesem Artikel berichten die Autoren, wie sie vor kurzem eine neue grundlegende Ungleichung entdeckt haben, mit der sich sowohl eine der fundamentalen Ungleichungen der Elektromagnetostatik als auch die der Elastoplastizität als Spezialfälle beschreiben lassen.
4209  In our results we uncover a deep connection between the seemingly unrelated theories of electromagnetism and gradient-elastoplasticity. Both theories are formulated as a system of linear or nonlinear partial differential equations. We present them in a simplified setting and highlight the important role of general a priori inequalities for the solution of the equations. As it turns out, there is one, hitherto unknown inequality, to rule two of the three needed inequalities: Korn’s inequality for incompatible tensor fields. We describe this new inequality and the way in which we have found it. Possible further applications are indicated.
